23.7 Legacy Series / Re: DynDNS
August 05, 2023, 11:58:13 PM
I think the removal of the old DynDNS system is a joke. The DDclient based plug-in isn't grat. it hasn't had a maintainer for two years and isn't supporting basic features like dual stack IPv4 and IPv6. Upgrades are always nice. Sadly, the DDclient based one is a downgrade. A extremely bad one....

I'm currently trying to move all my devices to a reserved DHPC4 entry for the "Denie unknown clients" option. Sadly, I've run into an issue when im adding entries for devices with multiple network interfaces. My MacBook ist connected through WiFi and Ethernet at the same time. With a floating entry, it's possible for a device to register multiple addresses with the same host name. This can be validated though `dig` or the `/status_dhcp_leases.php` page. If I try to add these entries manually, I'm unable to do so, since it's not allowed to add two entries with the same hostname.

So, How am I supposed to handle such cases?

Yes, I could use a different hostname for my second NIC but I don't like this approach.

General Discussion / IPv6 and the new ddclient
March 24, 2023, 04:52:47 PM
Hello there,

I'm currently retrying the new dynamic DNS implementation using ddclient.

I'm trying to setup an entry for STRATO. There is a pre-provided service, but It does not seem to use IPv6 at all.

First, I was using the 'Interface' source. This did not work. Later I've noticed, that some series are providing a v4 and v6 option. So I've created a second entry for STRATO using a v6 service and it still isn't working. Now, my IPv4 entry is showing my IPv6 address... ..-It's not just showing them. it's using for both, my v4 and v6 entries...
How will I be able to use the new client with v4 and v6?

..guess I'll be stuck with the old Dyn DNS client...

Hi,

I'm Trying to create a forward rule to enforce a specific DNS. I've already tried this in the past but I also failed. Yesterday I tried it on a single interface instead of a group IF and found out, that it works.
