General Discussion / I don't know what I'm doing wrong while traffic shaping
« on: August 03, 2021, 02:09:02 pm »
Background:
I installed a dvd version through virtual box, and I am accessing the firewall from the same laptop that runs the instance of OpnSense
I have a Huawei HG8245H that is my DHCP server. It runs a cat5e cable to a Dlink DIR-300 router that acts as an access point and the Dlink AP is connected to my laptop through another cat5e cable.
I did the installation as per a YouTube video and my WAN IP and LAN IP are on the same network... (or subnet?) as my default gateway (Huawei HG8245H)
So I set up some pipes on shaper, then some rules for it with destination as the IP address for my android. But after applying changes I tried to speed test on my phone, but my phone still hogs all of my bandwidth if possible.
Checked from the traffic monitor, while the speed test was being run, and found out there was negligible traffic.
I would appreciate if anyone can tell me what I'm doing wrong here
