Hi,
Did you ever solve the problem? I had the same problem after I have added some new firewall rules, that ping to an external ip address like 8.8.8.8 did not work any more, i.e. I got also "sendto: Permission denied"

Solution: I have just rebooted OpnSense and the problem has vanished.

I have noticed, that the firewall of OpnSense does sometimes not work properly anymore after having done some (more than 5) changes to the firewall rules. A reboot always helps.

Ich konnte das Problem wie folgt lösen:
1. Als root auf der command line von OpnSense eingeloggt und eine Shell geöffnet
3. UFS-mirror wieder in eine konsistenten Zustand gebracht mit:  gmirror forget OPNsense
4. Den UFS-mirror gestopt mit: gmirror stop -f OPNsense
5. Den UFS-mirror gelöscht mit: gmirror destroy -f OPNsense
6. Die Metainformationen der Disk nda0 gelöscht mit: gpart destroy -F nda0
7. Die Metainformationen der Disk ada0 konnte ich nicht vor der Shell aus löshen, da diese noch von OpnSense in Gebrauch war.
   Ich hatte gerade keine FreeBSD auf einem Stick und habe dann WindowsPE von einem Stick gebooted und von der Commandline aus mittels DISKPART alle
   Partitionen der Disk ada0 gelöscht.
8. Vom USB-Stick OpnSsense gebootet und mittels Installer und "Install(ZFS)" eine Mirror-Konfiguration installiert. Beide Disk waren nun auch wieder für
   ZFS-Installer sichtbar
9. Von der Disk ada0 gebooted und mittels Menüpunkt 1 "Assign Interface" die WAN und LAN-Schnittstellen korrekt eingestellt.
10. Dann Zugriff über das GUI auf OpnSense und via System/Configuration/Backup und Restore Configuration das Backup der alten Konfiguration hochgeladen und
    neu gebooted.
11. Den Status des ZFS-Mirror übeprüft auf der Shell von OpnSense mit: zpool status -v

Nun ist der Status für den Mirror online und beide Disk korrekt eingebunden.

"No such GEOM" könnte darauf hin deuten, dass die Partitionstabelle irgendwie kaputt ist. Du könntest natürlich erst einmal eine der beiden SSDs komplett löschen, gucken, ob du dann installieren kannst, dann bauen wir die zweite in den Mirror mit ein.

Ich bin noch etwas weiter gekommen. Beim booten wird das Objekt "OpenSense_mirror" angezeigt. Diese Mirrortinstallation war vor 4 Jahren noch via den OpnSense-Installer und mit UFS möglich. Mit dem Befehl "gmirror list" kann ich den Mirror nun anzeigen, hier der Output:

Ich kenne mich mit Linux resp. FreeBSD nicht so gut aus. Ich vermute, ada0 ist der Master und nda0 der Slave im Mirror? Ich vermute auch, dass ich den Mirror "löschen" und danach mit Hilfe von gpart auch die beiden Disks "löschen" muss, bevor ich mit dem OpnSenseinstaller ZFS installieren kann.

Wie mach ich das Löschen des Mirrors?
"gmirror stop -f" und dann
"gmirror destroy -f"

Und das Löschen der beiden Disk dann:
"gpart destroy -F ada0"  und
"gpart destroy -F nda0"

Bin ich da auf dem richtigen Weg und kann ich das direct in der Shell von OpnSense machen und danach mit dem USB-Stick booten?

Ich habe noch etwas weiter analysiert:
Der Befehl "sysctl kern.diks" zeigt: "kern.disks: ada0 nda0"
Das heisst, der Kernel sieht tatsächlich beide SSD!

Aber der Befehl "gpart show" sagt:

Das bedeutet, es ist tatsächlich eine Mirror-Installation mit einem UFS-Filesystem, was ja so mit den neueren OpnSensversionen nicht möglich ist.

Wenn ich den Befehl "gpart show ada0" or "gpart show nda0" eingebe, erhalte ih nur "no such geom: ada0"
Irgendwie sieht das System doch nicht beide SSD und könnte dies der Grund sein, dass der ZFS-Installer die Disks nicht sieht?

I have made a bit more anlaysis:
The command "sysctl kern.diks" shows: kern.disks: ada0 nda0
This means, the kernel sees both ssd!

But the command "gpart show" says:

This means it is actually a mirror-installation with a ufs filesystem, which is with the newer versions of OpnSense not possible.

If I use the comand "gpart show ada0" or "gpart show nda0" it just states: "no such geom: ada0"

Are my statements correct and has this something to do, that the ZFS-Installe does not see the disks?

Do the disks display but after you press Enter it says no disk?

I hit that problem the first time I installed ZFS. I had forgotten to press the space bar to select a disk before Enter. It could be that simple.

No, after I have selected the menu item "Install(ZFS) the installer searches for disks for 2 to 3 second and says then "no disk present". So no disks are shown at all.

Initial Situation:
I have installed OpnSense on a SuperMicro server (bar metal) with two SSDs on UFS as a mirror installation for about 4 years. The two SSDs are: Kingston DC1000B M.2 NVMe SSD 240GB (nda0) and Samsung SSD 883 DCT 240GB (ada0).
Now I want to switch to ZFS, among other things because of the possibility to create a snapshot before a software upgrade.

Problem:
I have installed OpnSense version 24.7 (not 25.x because of my business installation, which is still based on version 24.x) on a USB stick and after a reboot I have selected "Install (ZFS)". Now the OpnSense installer reports that there are no disks present. However, if I select "Install (UFS)", the two SSDs are displayed.

Does anyone have an idea?

Ich habe seit zirka 4 Jahren OpnSense auf einem SuperMicro-Server (bar metal) mit zwei SSD auf UFS als Mirror-Installation installiert. Die beiden SSD sind:
Kingston DC1000B M.2 NVMe SSD 240GB (nda0) und Samsung SSD 883 DCT 240GB (ada0).
Nun möchte ich auf ZFS wechseln, u.a. wegen der Möglichkeit vor einem SW-Upgrade einen Snapshot zu erstellen.

Problem:
Ich habe OpnSense Version 24.7 (nicht 25.x wegen meiner Business-Installation, die noch immer auf der Version 24.x basiert) auf einen USB-Stick installiert gebooted und "Install (ZFS)" ausgewählt. Nun meldet aber der OpnSense Installer das keine Disks vorhanden seien (no disk present). Wähle ich hingegen "Install (UFS)" an, dann werden die beiden SSD angezeigt.

Hat jemand eine Idee?

The problem is, that you need to use the DNS-server you get back from ExpressVPN. You can check that on your tablet or PC, when you are connected to an Express VPN server.
In OpnSense you can derive the DNS server from the Virtual.Addr. you find in VPN.OpenVPN.Connectionstatus. e.g. your virtual address ist: 10.12.12.103 then your gateway and DNS server is: 10.12.12.1
But be aware, that your IP address may change if you reconnect.
