Tutorials and FAQs / Re: Robot vacuum cleaner changing ip address
« on: June 11, 2020, 07:18:36 pm »
Sorry
I've probably not been clear, I have the opnsense router in the loft, with a 4 port nic.
This connects directly to a unifi AP with 2 other vlans.
My lan connects to another port on the card through an unmanaged switch down to the downstairs AP (doesn't pass vlan tokens).
The easiest solution would be to use a managed switch so that the 2 AP's are on the same lan. However I haven't got one at the moment.
I was wondering if there was some sort of dnsmasq system that could update the ip address listed by mac address.
The vacuum is directed via an automation which requires it's ip/domain

Hi,
I have a problem, which probably has an easy answer.
I have a robot vacuum cleaner, that connects on ip address over wifi on floor 1 through the local ap1 on 10.0.0.x
When it's taken upstairs it connects via ap2 which is on 10.0.1.x
It's controlled via a server on 10.0.0.y
I've created a unbound override robotvacuum.home however this only points to 1 ip address. How can I get it to automatically switch over to the other one?
Thanks

I'm having some stability issues with opnsense (I am very new to this) it's crashing (complete freeze, no logs) during the day about once an hour.
Although it ran through last night with no crashes... which leads me to think I have a temperature problem.
Just checking cpu state and I have the exact issue described with freebsd
https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=236513
How do I modify my installation with the patched acpi.c file described in the linked forum?
Thanks
