19.7 Legacy Series / Can't login to installer
« on: January 21, 2020, 12:01:42 am »
Hi guys,
I just tried to install 19.7 "jacky jaguar" on a Supermicro X11SBA-LN4F board. After some tweaking (The OPNsense installer needs "kern.vty=sc" to boot), I did get the installer to boot ok. However, when I get the "Welcome! Both 'root' and 'installer' users are available for system setup..." message and the "FreeBSD/amd64 (OPNsense.localdomain) (ttyXXX)" login prompt, I tried 'root' and 'installer' with the password 'opnsense' - both showing 'login incorrect'. I tried it numerous times; I also configured a notebook in the net 192.168.1.0/24 and tried ssh from there - same result: 'login incorrect'. I had tried 19.1 before and had been stuck at the same point.
Somehow I have a gut feeling that I'm missing something obvious - however, I'm really stuck and get no further.
Anybody got any hints what I am doing wrong!?
Any help appreciated.
Regards,
Mark
