19.7 Legacy Series / future of dnsmasq in opnsense
January 04, 2020, 09:43:30 PM
Hi

a little background - I have somewhat problems with dhcpv4, dhcpv6, radvd and unbound in combination with dynamic ipv6 address assignment (from my provider) , PD to my subnets (track interface enabled) and ULA addresses.
it seems that I cannot have all that with those services. sometimes my ULA get lost on the client or the delegated ipv6 addresses from my provider.

now - as dnsmasq can handle at least dhcpv4, dhcpv6 and radvd - and a good subset of unbound - I'd like to know if there are any plans to remove dnsmasq from opnsense.

My plan is to use a custom config in services > dnsmasq > settings > advanced to setup dhcpv4/6 and slaac

kind regards

just for fun... because its all strange

can you ping devices in LAN2 from LAN1? but all in all it seems to be a problem of the fritzbox? try contacting AVM support - they are pretty good and give you test firmewares that might fix your problem.

There is a Firewall within the fritzbox that may block the packet returning.

I used to have a fritzbox and must say that ipv6 function in the fritzbox are more like a beta state feature.

you can test if you allow all traffic for the the host / network (your delegated ipv6) within the fritzbox.
I think Internet > Freigaben > somewhere there
