After doing a bit of investigating - I don't think Zenarmor is the issue. Combination of factors including small HDD and log retention settings. Ordered a new disk and changed log retention.

Hi Everyone,

Running Opnsense 23.1_6 with Zenarmor 1.12.4

I have experienced an abnormal growth in terms of data on my disk. Upon investigating, I found multiple instances of the entry as per the screenshot, at least 20 entries of a similar nature.

I have tried resetting the reporting data and reinstalling via Zenarmor and the Opnsense plugins page, plus rebooting but no success. Have had to stop the Zenarmor service for now to avoid the system crashing. Grateful if someone can help or point me in the right direction.

Thanks!

NS.

Hi Everyone,

My ntopng is currently running on version 3.40

I see that the latest one within the Opnsense repo is 4.2. Despite my efforts to update the plugin including uninstalling and reinstalling, it still remains on the same version (3.40).

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks for your help.

Nadmax.

Hi,

Thanks for the reply, while your answer did not directly resolve my issue, it got me looking in the right direction. I was not familiar with the notion of SHA 256 passwords, so after a few minutes of research I realised that I have to input the hash and not the password directly. Problem resolved for me - all working good!

Thanks again!

Hi,

Am actually having the same issue - I thought it was my just my setup but reassuring to see that am not alone. Exactly the same symptoms, tried uninstalling the plugin + rebooting + reinstalling but same problem.

So +1 for the issue.

Thanks all!

You could give Pfsense a shot, but it requires a lot of tuning compared to Opnsense, and there's also very little development in terms of evolution.

Alternatively there's Sophos XG Home Version which is free as well, but I've never tried it.

Have fun!

You could try Untangle - one of the things I appreciated was the ease of installation and hardware compatibility. If you're willing to fork out 50$ per year, you get all the enterprise bells and whistles. I recommend it as a second choice to OPNsense - but this is just my opinion.

Try doing it via webgui maybe? You may also want to reset all BIOS settings to default. I'm a noob and can't help much unfortunately :( Good luck! - I've just installed Sensei and I really am impressed. So far so good.

Just posting my feedback here - did a fresh install of 18.7 then upgraded via GUI to the latest firmware. All good.

Just posting back here, unfortunately that did not work for me  :(

I'll give that a shot this weekend, seems easy enough.

Thanks for the heads up on this, I'll wait for the installer to be updated. The Untangle runs in production so want to avoid unnecessary downtime via trial and error with OPNsense.

Hi All,

So I've been wanting to move away from Untangle and thought I'd give OPNsense a shot, unfortunately the boot process gets stuck in an infernal loop at:

masks     0x00ff0000, 0x000ff00, etc

Full screenshot in the picture below:

At that point it either reboots or hangs.

I have tried different USB sticks and also tried with Rufus and Etcher but to no avail. Reset BIOS values to default as well.

My build is and HP8200 Elite SFF unit with an intel G840 2.8GHz CPU.

The image I am using is the VGA installer.

Can anyone help?

Thanks in advance!
