General Discussion / Complete network block when activating openvpn
« on: December 16, 2018, 05:56:17 pm »
I recently switched from pfsense to opnsense. I have moderate skills in setting up a firewall so I dont think im a complete noob. After switching to opnsense I went ahead in setting up an openvpn client connection, the same way I did MANY times on pfsense. I noticed that as soon as I would active the vpn connection, I would loose all network connectively to the opnsense box. I cant ping it, and there is also no internet access. To gain access again I have to reboot and Ctrl+C, then edit /conf/config.xml and disable the vpn connection and the reboot.
I have a fairly simple setup.
igb0 = LAN
igb1 = WAN
ovpnc1 = OpenVPN client connection
I have NAT rules configured for:
127.0.0.0/8 to WAN
LAN net= WAN
VPN net = WAN
Firewall rules as per normal setup. I have tried everything, and I have configured the openvpn client many times and tried different settings under gateway, yet this ALWAYS happens.
Any help would be so much appreciated!
