General Discussion / ISP (?) / OpnSense not passing traffic at random intervals...
« on: September 25, 2018, 04:33:15 am »
Hi Everyone,
I've got an OpnSense specific build* in place running the latest version and pretty much at the out of the box default values. I'm testing it to replace my SonicWall 300W series FW (they want about $400 per year for maintenance and services - no thank you).
So far my OpnSense box is running well, but after some period of time (seems random) my wireless and wired traffic no longer traverse the OpnSense FW. Meaning...wifi is connected (phone, tablet, etc), but no Internet. Same with any of the systems on the inside of my network. When this happens I log into my OSFW (OpnSense FW) and everything seems fine. At its console I cannot ping anything by name or IP address. A reboot of my wireless and OSFW and all works for a while. Over the weekend I had 24 hours of no issues before things stopped working. Tonight about 4 hours. I don't see anything in the logs and my ISP 'uptime' shows no outages.
In addition, when things are working traffic is very slow. Web pages take 10-20 seconds to fully load or they simply time out.
No clue where to start looking for the problem.
* build is an Ryzen 3 CPU with 16GB of RAM, new MB, etc.
