It would want you to configure the replacement NICs. The hard part will new knowing which one is which.

Is your USB drive formatted as GPT? Usually they are formatted as FAT or FAT32...

I have a Brother HL-L2380DW mono laser, which is the one that doesn't like my AP, anger a Canon chiller inkjet which connects fine.

I haven't run any cable yet: new house (to me, it's a 20 yr old doublewide, well insulated underneath) and I haven't even decided where my firewall, etc are going to reside yet.

I am trying to set up a laser printer via Wi-Fi, but my current access point uses a newer authentication method than the printer can handle.

I do have an older router that I could plug in and put all my printers on, but I am wondering if I should set up a separate LAN for this. My current firewalll does have an unused 100Mbps Ethernet port on it (the current WAN and LAN ports are 1000Mbps).

Would I have to set up routing so that my regular LAN devices can print to/scan from the printers?

I installed OPNsense on a Dell desktop with dual GB NIC, and it boots up fine, can access the internet, and I can get the dashboard from my laptop via Wi-Fi.

Already I've made a few problems for myself: if I try to update my Mint KDE, it times out. Trying to go to bash.org it times out. My Roku TV can get Netflix, but it is choking on Amazon Prime Video.

Really, tried to minimize the number of settings I changed, but I must have enabled some kind of filtering...

I know getting Discord to work with things is problem enough, but I can't even get ask my websites working yet.

Any idea what I did wrong, or is there an easy way to reset and start over without reinstalling?

I am limping along with Smoothwall Express running on a second-generation Athlon (939 socket) in a two NIC gaming board from more than a decade ago.

The software is buggy and at the least needs reinstallation, but my needs are slightly different from back when I built this thing I have a bigger pipe in my new home, so I am considering an upgrade.

Currently, I have 100mbps through Spectrum, and while I have a relatively light load now-- four computers plus an NAS, a couple printers, two televisions, a couple media players, some tablets on occasion--what I want to do is anti-spyware scanning from the firewall, which I know is processor-intensive.

Smoothwall does a pretty decent job of blocking intrusion attempts, but the Squid add-on is broken and so I don't have that right now, and my old ISP provided me with only 23mbps at best.

Is OPNSense up to the task? I'm thinking yes, but I have to ask the question.

What kind of hardware do I need? What if I decide to VPN in the future?

What additional modules or steps are required for the malware scanning? Is that what is called SPI?

Sorry, it's been some years since I did any of this firewall stuff...
