for reference most update feeds i add are github release notes like those: https://github.com/community-scripts/ProxmoxVE/releases
there you can see all the content even inside the rss feed. (like with news articles)

i love using OPNsense and also like the Change logs / Announcements in the default Dashboard.
since i don't look into that dashboard every day i would love to incorporate that rssfeed into my feed reader where i have my other change logs.

Sadly when i try to use the forum rss ( https://forum.opnsense.org/index.php?board=11.0;action=.xml ) it only shows the first three lines of content.

so my question is:
what is the RSS Link used for the Announcements widget in the default Dashboard?

oh maybe its the DHCP.
I noticed that i set up the dhcp for LAN to give the AP its IP.
but now that the AP is not behind the Switch anymore maybe opnsense does not know that it should give it the same ip on another interface?

i had a zyxel gs 1200 and a netgear gs108e
on both i just set the "trunk" to the opnsense to carry all VLANs and the port with the AP i set to carry the ones for the SSIDs

but i think i don't understand how to set this up in opnsense :/

i think igc2 (where the AP is connected) needs to accept the AP tagged VLANs (20 is the one i currently test with)
that's why i thought setting VLAN Device vlan020 to parent igc2 was enough 🙈

VLAN 20 is tagged with VLAN ID 50 (2nd screenshot)?

my VLAN Devices look like this: (Parent set to the Interface with the AP (igc2))


before that the Parent was set to the Laninterface (igc1) where a switch is attached which passes the VLANs from the AP.
From what i understand only the AP should Tag the vlan and the rest (switch / opnsense) is just accepting them on untagged interfaces (correct?)

today i switched around my setup since i migrated my opnsense to a new box which fortunately has 4 instead of 2 interfaces.
i want to use this opportunity to put my access point directly into the opnsense to gain a free port on my switch (:
so basically my old and new setups look like this:



but i need help / am confused on the opnsense side of configurations.
before it looked like this:


for the new setup i tried to switch the parent to igc2 interface on the vlan device configuration but that did not work.
the wifi devices cant reach opnsense and therefore get no dhcp ip etc.

i feel like i am missing something and would greatly appreciate a little help on how to set this up correctly <3
(basically how to get my AP which tags VLANs to work directly plugged into opnsense)

first let me say i really like the new Dashboard <3

Sadly tho i fail to load every widget :/
Some of them always show the red exclamation mark and the message "Failed to load widget".
Since i run a pretty "low spec" Zotac ZBOX Ci323 and a few CI327 with intel n3000 series CPUS i suspect its due to them timing out while initialization?

The workaround is after the Dashboard is loaded to remove the failed widget and re-add it.

Therefor i would really love not only the "remove X" for each widget in the top right corner but also suggest a "reload arrow" in the top left corner of each widget so we can attempt to 'restart' single widgets which failed to load widgets (:

ich habe jetzt auch nochmal von vorne angefangen.
Ich glaube mein fehler war das ich im Gateway bei IP das Feld leer gelassen hatte und dort nicht "dynamic" stand.

Sicher bin ich mir allerdings nicht.
Was ich auch merkwürdig finde is das ich diesmal kein PPPoE Device angelegt habe sondern wie du die Daten beim Interface eingetragen habe und nach einem Reboot doch ein PPPoE Device für VLan07 angelegt ist o.o

Wenn ich Zeit habe gehe ich das nochmal mit meiner Backupbox und einem Freshinstall durch.
Dann würde ich im Anschluss den Prozess versuchen zu Dokumentieren und wenn es für dich ok ist dich einmal drüber schauen lassen.

Dann können wir das hier posten und hoffentlich den Zukünftigen einiges an Probiererei sparen (:

Was mir komisch erscheint ist das das PPPoE Log einfach leer ist.

Hallo liebe OPNSense Community,

ich verzweifle leider dieses Wochenende bei dem Versuch die FritzBox als Mitteler los zu werden.

Aktuell habe ich von der Telekom einen Glasfaseranschluss der in einer FiberTwist "ONT" Box von 1und1 mündet.
Bisher geht von dort ein Lankabel in LAN1 einer Fritzbox die wiederum an meine OPNSense weiter reicht. (Das Setup funktionierte so schon zu DSL-Zeiten).

Seit dem nun das Glasfaser da ist und OPNSense ja egtl PPPoE kann wollte ich die 10w sinnlosen Dauerverbrauch der FritzBox gerne sparen.

Diverse Anleitungen im Internet haben dort auch Stolperfallen wie das VLAN7 aufgezeigt.
Leider bei mir aktuell alles ohne Erfolg.

Daher nun hier meine Bitte um Beistand und Rat.

i noted that my Domain provider is not listed in the options.
but according to the docs (https://docs.opnsense.org/manual/dynamic_dns.html) this plugin is this github-repo:
