Problem OPNsense 19.1 und APU.4B4

Hallo,

ich habe bisher problemlos OPNsense 18.7 auf einer PC Engines APU.4B4 mit Data Power 30 GB mSATA SSD betrieben.

Nach dem Update auf 19.1 gestern ging nach einiger Zeit OpenVPN nicht mehr, das Webinterface ist nach einem Boot schnell tot und über die serielle Schnittstelle kommen Meldungen bezüglich ahcich0 und CAM_STATUS.

Eine Installation der 19.1 per USB Stick schlägt auch fehl, bleibt so bei 54-68% hängen.

Ich habe jetzt wieder die 18.7 installiert, diese läuft problemlos.

Kann jemand vielleicht auch über bekannte Probleme mit der APU oder der SSD bei OPNsense 19.1 berichten?

Ich habe erst am Wochenende ein Zweitsystem mit gleicher Ausstattung, auf dem ich mal testen kann.

Hab auch ähnliche Probleme hier mit der APU4C4.
Mit Version 19.1 ist nach einer sporadischen Zeit das Webinterface und teilweise SSH nicht mehr erreichbar.

Komplette Neuinstallation hab ich nach ein paar Anläufen hinbekommen, jedoch auch hier ein ähnliches Fehlerbild.

Das BIOS Update werde ich wohl dann auch mal ausprobieren

Sorry I'm not responding in German. I don't speak or read German, but I can tell that the issue you're experiencing is the same issue I had. Take a look at this article that I wrote. You'll need to flash the v4.0.23 BIOS on your APU4b4 in order for OPNsense 19.1 to work. The problem stems from a BIOS bug that is triggered in FreeBSD 11.2, but not in FreeBSD 11.1.

If you have an existing OPNsense 18.7 installation, you will want to perform the following:

1. Gain console access to your OPNsense installation
2. Install the flashrom package: pkg install flashrom
3. Download the BIOS firmware (this link is for the APU4): fetch http://pcengines.ch/file/apu4_v4.0.23.rom.tar.gz
4. Untar the BIOS: tar -xf apu4_v4.0.23.rom.tar.gz
5. Flash it: flashrom -p internal:boardmismatch=force -w apu4_v4.0.23.rom

Now you can go ahead with the OPNsense 19.1 upgrade (or installation).

Nach dem Update der Firmware läuft die 19.1.1 auf der APU4B4 absolut stabil seit über 24 Stunden, OpenVPN macht auch keine Probleme mehr.

Allerdings müssen vor der Installation per USB Stick noch im Setup der APU4B4 folgende Dinge deaktiviert werden, sonst bleibt der Bootvorgang der Installationsumgebung hängen:

- Force mPCIe2 slot CLK
- EHCI0 controller

Ein Update einer laufenden OPNSense Installation macht da keine Probleme.

Welche Bios Version? Auch die 4.0.23 (Legacy releases)? Welche Bios Version hattest du vorher auf der apu4?

Ich hatte letzten Freitagabend das Update auf OPENsense 19.1.1 gemacht und danach die selben Probleme, dass die apu4c4 immer wieder nach kurzer Zeit abstürzte. Es war keinerlei Zugriff mehr auf das Web-GUI, per SSH oder serieller Konsole mehr möglich. Verbindungen über die Firewall waren jeweils noch für kurze Zeit vorhanden, dann war irgendwann komplett Schluss (max. nach 2 Std.).  Blieb nur Strom unterbrechen und neu starten.

Die Bios-Version weis ich nicht mehr, auf jeden Fall ziemlich viel neuer als v4.0.23. Der Bios-Downgrade brachte die Lösung. Seit ich Bios v4.0.23 drauf habe läuft sie wieder wie zuvor, komplett störungsfrei.

Das Bios konnte ich ohne jegliche Probleme während dem normalen Betrieb (direkt nach einem Neustart) aufspielen. Danach Reboot und seither habe ich Ruhe. Läuft seit knapp 1 1/2 Tagen. Konnte dabei OPENsense 19.1.1 drauf lassen.

und wo seh ich denn welche Bios Version ich auf dem APU habe?
