Double NAT
« on: January 02, 2017, 10:25:41 am »
Is it possible with double NAT to let 1 host based on his MAC address get his IP from the DHCP server on the first network?

Yes, but since DHCP works in the layer 2 broadcast domain, you need to forward the request. Services, DHCP, Relay.

I guess I have to forward all hosts to the first DHCP server?
This is not what I try to do.

Tried DHCP relay, had to turn of DHCP server first.
Lost connection after playing with some settings. On the box itself, booted fine but got no console to logon.
Ended up with a complete crash.

No idea what went wrong but I had to restart from scratch. I even had to take the HD out of the box to erase all partitions.
