[SOLVED] Installation and configuration in vmware
« on: September 18, 2016, 02:34:08 pm »
Hi,
I have installed Opnsense in VMware and it is booting to console.
How to get the GUI interface to complete the configuration and setup the firewall.
For testing purpose, I have installed the FreeBSD in VMware.
I am unable to get the GUI interface. Pls help.

Thanks,
Anand.

You haven't given much information on what you've done or tried so far. Have you actually configured an IP address for the LAN interface (the default is 192.168.1.1)?  If you have then you go to that IP address in your browser and it will open at the OPNsense GUI.

Hi Bill,
Thanks for your replay.
I have not configured any IP address.
I have selected "NAT" in VMware hardware settings.
Could you please help me to configure the IP settings.

Let's start with which 'VMware' you're talking about - is this Workstation or ESXi? What are you trying to do with OPNsense at the moment - is this a test environment or are you going to use it as your real firewall?

I have installed OPNsense in a test environment. Later I will move the same to real gateway firewall.
I have installed freeBDS in VMware ana got the console with 13 options.

Here's a good video of the process with 16.7:

Please let us know which step doesn't work as expected. :)
