Question: PPPoE and HA Setup
« on: September 21, 2018, 10:47:15 am »
Hi,
I'm planing to install a Desico Appliance with two integrated firewalls (HA Setup) in some of our satellite offices.

So my question is, if I have to use a PPPoE Internet dial in connection, I would setup something like this:

           Modem
               |
         RJ45 cable
               |
          Switch
       --------------
       |                |
    FW1 <-HA-> FW2

And configure on both a fully HA Setup including logins for PPPoE.

Does it work? The aim is, that only the active Firewall is connecting to the internet and only if FW1 has a failure, then FW2 should initiate the PPPoE connection.

I don't want to ask a collegue to switch manually the uplink cable from FW1 to FW2.

Thanks!

This is ATM not possible. Only thing is let the modem do the dialin and a private network behind with both firewalls in there.
