Menu disappear after root password change
« on: December 17, 2016, 10:37:38 pm »
Hi, Sorry to disturb, I was seting up my first OPNsense and so far everything was ok(intefaces, brdges, vpn, ...), except that since I changed the root pwd (folowing all my other settings), I am able to login, but I do not have the left menu anymore : only the help menu...

Any help to help me in getting back the menu is welcome !:)

Thanks,

Fred

Hi Fred,

This is odd. Did you try a different browser? Can you provide a screenshot if this issue persists?

Cheers,

Hi Fred,

Ok, can you open this and set it to English to rule out a translation issue:

https://192.168.193.1/system_general.php

French works from here as far as I can test.

Can you do an update? Should also rule out issues with 16.7 as we are on 16.7.11 now.

Thanks so far,
Franco

Hi Franco,

ENglish didn't help,
When I click Click to upgrade, it just come back to the lobby without having D/L or installed any update (even if it see that there is 1 update avbailable).

Can you share to me the link for the user page as well as the password page?

Thanks,

Fred

Hi,

Fixed !
Not sure how yesterday I changed the Root password : from https://192.168.193.1/system_usermanager_passwordmg.php or
https://192.168.193.1/system_usermanager.php ... anyway folowing this I lost the menu...

but root was not in admins group (??). So I went to https://192.168.193.1/system_usermanager.php and just added root as admin and my menu came back...

Anyway, everything is back on the right track!

Tkx,

Fred

Uh, indeed, this seemed like a permission problem because the menu wasn't gone -- there simply wasn't any entries in it.

I don't know how this happened. Do you have any idea how to reproduce?
