I'm trying to get this working but no luck at all.
1) XenServer 7.2 (using template: "Other install media")
2) DVD drive, install media: OPNsense-17.7.5-OpenSSL-dvd-amd64.iso
3) 2x vCPUs (2 sockets, 1 core per socket)
4) 2048MB of RAM
5) 10GB virtual disc size
6) one LAN interface
Virt Mode: HVM
BIOS string not copied
System installation does not start/boot, console screen stays empty.
Error message after 10min: "
This operation cannot be performed because the specified virtual disk could not be found
"
Any idea what the issue could be?
Thx.

First, US your host a dual CPU machine? If not, use 1 socket, 2 cores.
Second, since I don't know what FreeBSD supports in combination with XenServer 7.2, have you looked up what FreeBSD support? It's probably the controller you chose that is not supported.

It is a dual CPU (low end Intel Xeon) system. However, I had a look at the LAN controller and it seems there is a lack of support in XenServer for my network controller which may cause the issue. I will investigate this further as it seems it is not directly related to OPNsense. I'll report back once I have further news.

I just installed XenServber 7.2 on my old desktop hardware (i7-4770, 16GB RAM. Onboard NIC for management, one port of a dual port 10GbE SFP+ NIC for vSwitches (VLAN tagged).
It installed, updates and runs fine. Plugin for Xen Tools installed.
Except for network performance.
Download is 10Mbit/s (out of 400 max) and upload is 0. Literally, 0. According to a simple Speedtest, anymore.
Even downloading a ISO file from a fast FTP server maxes out of ~700Kbit/s.
I find it so odd that you can turn a FreeBSD installation into a Xen host, but FreeBSD is not supported as a Xen guest...
Anyway, quick test done. Bye, bye XenServer.
