Monit RootFS broken for ZFS on 26.7.7

Previous the RootFS check worked fine in Monit for ZFS drives, after update to 26.7.7 it now fails with
"unable to read filesystem '/' state"

I actually followed the directions on This Post to create a ZFS specific script.

Run the script manually from shell and see what the output of it is.
I copied the script from your referenced thread to a test system here and it works fine.

And run some zfs pool command by hand, e.g 'zpool status' and see what that shows.

No, I mean instead of using RootFS (which has always worked for me until 26.7.7 upgrade), I followed the directions in the post and am now having to use the script to monitor ZFS.  I was just replying to myself in case others have this issue.
