add blocking working over 5G VPN but not in own wifi network

Hi All,

I have adguard installed on my system and when accessing websites with my iPhone on IOS 27 I still see ads when on my home wifi network.  When I am on 5G network with a fireguard vpn connected to my Opnsense server, the ads are to visible and add blocking works.  I did put adguard as my primary dns in the settings.  Any idea what could be happening?

I am guessing some of the traffic re-routing crap that Apple applies to all it's devices and OS versions : Have you tried to disable all of it ?

I am also guessing that things start to work via the VPN because they have to respect the VPN DNS settings and can't mess around with them :)

Tks Neo355, you hit the nail!  Disabling connectivity assist in the settings did the trick.  Apparently you adguard blocks an ad iOS interprets the lack of response as a failing wifi network and enables a fallback feature that bypasses adlblockers and adding new encrypted dns controls.  All solved, tks.

So if you can apply some of that "trickery" to AdGuard you can solve the issue that way too I guess ?!
