App Control Definition Updates?

Hi folks,

Does anyone know how often App Control definition updates are pushed and if/when new applications are added?  I was comparing Zenarmor to another product and found applications in the other product that Zenarmor did not have, which made me wonder if Zenarmor continually adds applications over time.

Hi,

Application DB updates are generally delivered alongside new releases or via urgent version updates. Please note that custom applications entered into the OPNsense UI are sent as feedback by default. However, contributing further application names is completely at your discretion. To support the continuous improvement of our database, you may optionally submit additional application names using the 'Have Feedback' feature in the bottom-left corner of the UI.

Because new services consistently come to market, I understand it can be difficult to keep up but I'm hoping Zenarmor will be able to help provide additional coverage over time by adding applications.  I also saw the option to add custom applications, which I can look at adding and contributing feedback when I can. 

To give some examples of applications that I saw missing from Zenarmor when comparing to the other product:

• IRC (can be used for CnC: https://thehackernews.com/2026/02/sshstalker-botnet-uses-irc-c2-to.html)
• Tor VPN
• Tor Proxy / Tor2Web Proxy
• Tailscale
• Private Internet Access

I will watch the release notes too for additions.
