Hello all,

I'm posting here an help request to properly configure VLANs.

The network is something like this

You cannot view this attachment.

The WAN connection enters the OPNSense firewall and exit to LAN side (two separate NICs).
LAN backbone is 10G fiber, that connect the main central switch (the Mikrotik) and from there to the EdgeSwitch 16 (the EdgeSwitch 8 isn't important now).
From the EdgeSwitch 16 the backbone continues to another switch (the TPlink) where finally we find the AP Ruckus R710.

My goal is to have a wireless device e.g. doorbell or thermostat connected to AP via its own VLAN to segregate that traffic from LAN.

Is there anyone willing to help me understand, step by step, how to properly configure the VLANs across these multiple brands switches up to the AP?

Step 1) from OPNsense firewall to Mikrotik switch

Step 2) from Mikrotik switch to EdgeSwitch 16

and so on...

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

Are you serious ?!

Soo much advanced hardware that's not exactly cheap and you need our help ?!

Weird...

Anyways...

To give you something to research :

- OPNsense = Assign new VLAN Interface to Outgoing NIC the first Switch is connected to.
- Tell the Switch that you connect with OPNsense the VLAN needs to be Tagged on the used Switch Port.
- Further transport of VLANs between Switches needs to be Tagged too!
- When you arrive at the Switch to Accesspoint connection this needs to be Tagged too!
- On the Accesspoint you choose the Tagged VLAN for the Radio Interface.

Good luck! & Have fun learning how to do the above! ;)
