restore config from 25 to 24?

I upgraded to 25 about 4 weeks ago and been having almost daily outages with the internet side just not passing traffic randomly. I have to reboot the VM to get things working again. That's another issue for another thread, just giving why this is important.

the real question, can I take my config from 25 and do a clean install of 24 and restore the config there? I have been using opnsense for years and it's been awesome, but we can't take these outages. I want to go back until 25 has a bit more time cooking and things are more stable.

Thanks!

Can you take a VM snapshot?  That way if the downgrade goes sideways you can restore to at least where you are presently.

I wouldn't recommend it as vital configuration may be stored elsewhere in 25 as opposed to 24. We did move at least one type of firewall rules that the old system will have no way of restoring. 25 vs 24 is a fuzzy target also... that may span 4 major upgrades and a lot of changes.

PS: I tried to find information about your current issue but since this is your first post I was unsuccessful.

sorry, I ended up trying to restore a 25.7 config onto a 24.7 and no good. can't get logged into the webui after doing that and resetting the root password.

Unfortunately my backups only go back 2 weeks for my home stuff, so that didn't help. Looks like I need to keep monthlys as well.
