OPNSense locked after power outage

Hello there!

Today we experienced an unexpected power outage in our office that lasted about a minute. Since then our OPNSense (DEC2770) has become mostly inaccessible, at least for administration.

The networking configuration, DNS, and related services seem to be working fine, but I can no longer reach the web UI. Access is restricted to our VPN, and while the VPN itself works (I can connect to other VPN-restricted systems), the web UI remains unreachable.

I also tried accessing it via the serial interface, but it says that my credentials are incorrect, even though I used the exact same ones less than an hour before the outage. SSH isn't enabled.

How can I regain access?

If the local password database is corrupted, you may need to restore from your most recent configuration backup (typically stored on your PC or downloaded previously).

As a final option, you can reinstall OPNsense on the device and then import your previous configuration; your networking and VPN settings will be restored, but you will recover admin access cleanly.

That's rather unlikely. I'd expect missing PHP modules or other system files that cause this.

Also unlikely. In most cases the credentials used are wrong. Using OTP also has some downsides here if NTP isn't working.

The images do have a password recovery option to reset it back to defaults. That would be the easiest option.
