I've just tried to restart a firewall several times from the GUI. It returned to the GUI sometime later without restarting.

I then tried to power it off. The GUI remained at The system is powering off now but never powered off.

Watching the console via the iLO interface no activity was logged during this process.

Have any plugins installed?

I posted just after this had occurred.

On reflection I wondered if this is related to earlier reports where when a restart had been requested the GUI displayed the Dashboard followed by a delay before the restart was executed.

There is a known issue with Crowdsec prohibiting a proper shutdown. So again: do you have any plugins installed?

Not trying to be obtuse, just my train of thought went in another direction.

Plugins

os-apcupsd
os-cpu-microcode-intel
os-nextcloud-backup
os-squid
os-tayga
os-theme-vicuna
os-wol

None of these peak my interest so maybe it was just bad luck that it happened this one time.

If it doesn't happen again it might have been a fluke.

I too have this issue reboot/shutdown issue, and it began after a couple updates ago where others seemed to agree it was a Crowdsec problem as Patrick suggested, but I don't have that plugin installed.  I thought I was an outlier and was just going to do a fresh install one of these days.  But out of the list of plugins you listed, I also have these two installed:

-os-cpu-microcode-intel
-os-nextcloud-backup

So perhaps for us others without Crowdsec, we can concentrate on those two plugins as a possible cause?  Neither is crucial for me to have installed and can test later tonight if removing one (or both) of those fixes my reboot issue, and perhaps if you have time you can try as well?  Might be a simple fix after all...  :)
