Need Help About Final Year Project

Hi, im new here. Can you suggest which package or module that can i use for my final year project ?
I want to use Opnsense as my final year project, but i dont know which package that suitable for my final year project. Im choose Networking as my final year project but i dont have idea.. Please help me..

You usually cannot use OPNsense as it is for a final year project because it is questionable what you did related research.

If you are a developer, you may create a plugin for OPNsense, where you implement some kind of a proxy for better protocol inspection. I would prefer, if it would work in transparent mode, because some clients cannot be configured to use a proxy. Also tunnel and firewall bypass detection would be an interesting topic. If you would like to do something related to content filtering or adaptation, you could use my ICAP server (https://github.com/fabianfrz/ICAPrb-Server). It is compatible with the web proxy of OPNsense.

If you study some kind of information security, you may be able to do a code audit - we would be happy to close any security holes we are not aware of. OPNsense is mostly written in PHP and Python 2.7.

Other ways to help the project, but not suitable for a last year project are:

• fix bugs or report issues
• help porting the web interface to MVC
• help people in the forum
• help translating the interface
• develop own plugins and contribute them or extend the core
• donate money
• add feature requests (good ideas are always welcome - however they will not implemented soon if it is a lot of work because there is some work to do with a higher priority)

maybe i need to monitoring bandwidth so i want to use traffic shapper in this project.. but idunno how to implement OPNsense in my network. Actually i want to create new network such as new router, switch, pc, etc. but i dunno how can i implement opnsense in my network.

i understand about the installation but i dunno how can i put opnsense in my network. Maybe opnsense as my router, maybe opnsense as my whatever.. that is my problem.. please answer it. I see pfsense can install as router but opnsense i dunno.. i dunno how real topology..

you can configure OPNsense as a Layer 2 device (Switch) or Layer 3 (Device). For traffic shaping you probably need to work at least on Layer 3.

I would recommend to put the admin computer on its own network (physical or VLAN).
Otherwise it should work.

NOTE: You should use a (chart) drawing tool like DIA (http://dia-installer.de/) GraphVIZ, LibreOffice Draw etc. for your charts. They would look far better.

i want to setup new network and there is ISP to Opnsense to Switch to Devices..
then i want to use opnsense as network monitoring. network monitoring can monitor bandwidth, usage, or etc.
so in this case i want to monitor bandwidth usage in my network in layer 2 devices.. client use the internet so i want to monitor their usage of the internet.. how can i do it ?
