FreeBSD versions used and maintained

Hello,
I have a question regarding the FreeBSD OS as used in OPNSense.

OPNSense 24.7 released with FreeBSD 14.1.  If I read the FreeBSD website correctly, this version is EoL when version 14.2 + 3 months has been reached (expected).

Does OPNSense have an update path for implementing the minor release builds of FreeBSD as the monthly update builds of OPNSense are released?  Before the next major OPNSense release (25.1)

I've been using OPNSense for a few years now, but the whole 13.2 going EoL before 24.7 was released got me thinking about this.

My apologies if this question has been asked & answered already.  I was unable to find a recent post or such on the topic.

FreeBSD is in the process of switching to a 6 month release schedule. Which matches OPNsense's cycles quite nicely. 14.2 is due in December 2024. That means 14.1 will be supported at least until March 2025. We will have OPNsense 25.1 by January 2025, so I don't see a problem here.

For FreeBSD the 3 months matter because src and ports braches are no longer maintained, but that was never the case with us as we maintain our own src and ports branches. And as Patrick noted it's going to be a lot better in the future.
