OPNsense 24.7 Upgrade - new user and first experience of a major upgrade...

I have recently moved from Untangle/Arista NGFW to OPNsense due to Arista walking away from home users by removing the renewal of home licenses.

OPNsense 24.1/Zenarmor has been performing security, filtering and remote access duties trouble-free for several months and it's nice to see regular updates smoothly install without issue.

I've followed the progress of OPNsense 24.7 development with interest and waited patiently for an upgrade to appear which arrived today. With trepidation (and heeding the advice from the release notes) I have installed a clean install of 24.7 in a VM to test and become familiar with upgrade/reinstall processes and upgraded a 24.1 VM install to see what happens and understand the upgrade flow.

Due diligence done, after backing up OPNsense/Zenarmor, I gingerly clicked on the upgrade button and followed the reboots from the console.

5 minutes later, after re-running an update check and waiting for Zenarmor to update, I have a fully working system, all important services are running and, more importantly, there's been no noise from any of my users.

In light of the Crowdstrike shenanigans last week, can I commend everyone's efforts for a seamless upgrade experience! Seriously, well done :-)
