When does opnsense-business get updated to 24.1

Hello - I got an OPNsense business lic as I was under the impression it was more modern and had latest versions and security patches.

But I see that community = 24.1.4 and business = 23.10.2 which does not tell that story.

Does anyone know when will the business edition be updated?

Also is there a section in the forums for business edition? Both version chats current and legacy are versions that the business IS NOT on. :(

24.4 - so, April. The business version gets new features more slowly than the community version but more thorough testing and quality control.

Major version updates:

Community: January, July
Business: April, October

For support I guess (I do not run the business version although I do buy Deciso appliances) you are supposed to contact Deciso?

If you say 24 is greaster than 23 that's true. If you say 24.1.x is better than 23.10.x that's debatable.

There's a 23.10.3 coming up this week and 24.4 at the end of next month... all according to established process and schedule.

Am I going to have any problems moving from CE to Business? I'm pretty sure that my testing is going well enough that I'm going to try and find some money in my budget for (hopefully) a 3 year plan. Running my own hardware for right now, I'll try to budget something in the next couple of years. It will be on a Supermicro server (4c8t Xeon E3-xxxx, 16GB ram) which is pretty close to my test machine. Summer project at this point.

There's no problem moving between compatible community and business releases (e.g. 23.7 and 23.10) as both are made interchangeable. Just the schedules and backporting differs for obvious reasons.

Greg_E I disagree with franco a little.

The Biz edition is going to have older versions of apps so the settings might be different. In my case it was that with HAProxy CE version is newer and had some features different and I first setup on CE, then when I moved to Biz I had to redo the HAProxy setup and figure out how to set the same things on older version from what I had done with the HAProxy LE write-up on this forum.

Thanks, I'll have to keep that in mind. I'm probably going to keep the CE version on my test router, and build a new Business version on the server that will eventually be my longer term production router. Test is doing the job fine, but I want that computer back for other things.

Greg_E I disagree with franco a little.

As stated elsewhere you used a newer system on community and went back a major iteration with the business release. It's exactly like using 23.7 and then boing back to 23.1 saying you had to redo things that 23.1 does different....because it is a an older version and configurations are not backwards-compatible when the code in question was changed (for unrelated reasons).

We don't have time machines to fix old versions. ;)
