Another newbie question. Can you set up a PC for Opnsense and simultaneously use it as a file server? Is it better to have one PC for Opnsense and another as a file server? Thanks for help.

"Should you?" is answered by your view of risk and your resources.
I favour separation. I regard a firewall as critical infrastructure, if only for my home. My working assumption is that any piece of software which runs under the same OS as the firewall but could be run elsewhere without affecting firewall functionality, adds risk to the firewall itself so should be run elsewhere. Granularity of functional devices can also help with software reliability, albeit at a cost of money, space, heat, network and OS maintenance, and additional hardware to fail.
Work out where you fall on considerations such as those.
