I would like to get performance to the point where it can handle pppoe and other tasks (ids etc) at 10G. What (and how) should I be monitoring to identify the bottleneck points? My experience is mostly Linux. Are there any hidden instrumentation points that can be monitored? I really don't like the 'just blindly throw money at it until it works' approach. Sadly using pppoe is not likely to be something that changes any time soon.
