Right. Tried the above suggestions.

- Configuring PPPoE and popping the modem into 'IP device only' mode.
- Changing the ports around.

Sadly, this did not work and I was not assigned an IP address.

Currently bidding on a Draytek modem on eBay.

Will create a new thread to report on my exploits then... thanks for everyone's help so far!

Question is how FtrizBox operates in that non IP mode. I think its a hybrid between bridged and and routed mode. So as you can not achieve full bridge mode its a bother. I would in this case follow the video posted by R.Fox and other German Youtubers.

If you use the IP of FritzBox this would basically mean you would have 2 L3 Hops before reaching ISP GW,  personalty I dont like that.

Sadly I dont have a FritzBox otherwise I would play with it in my LAB. As I never had a FrtizBox its hard for me to recommend exact configuration steps. I can only forward videos which you already found.

To sum it up. If you can get a xDSL device capable pure Bridge mode as suggested by r.Fox, basicaly any such modem that can achieve the desired speed you have from ISP will do it. This will not only simplify your network setup but also will give you less pain.

Those device r.Fox advised are fine, Personally I am using TP-Links but old ones the new ones are bad really bad, with bugs causing issues on PPPoE.

Hopefully you will find a good xDSL modem. Once you have it try what I suggested.

One word of recommendation or how i test PPPoE if I am not sure the NW device is the problem or PPPoE is the problem. Once you slap the modem into Bridge, you can connect your PC or Laptop to LAn port of that xDSL and setup PPPoE on the PC/Laptop directly. If you have correct creds and VCI VPI, you will achieve internet connectivity from your computer ;)

Networking is love. You may hate it, but in the end, you always come back to it.

Damn, that's a good idea. Should have thought of that.

The modem I am currently bidding on is the  Draytek Vigor 130 ADSL2+/VDSL2. Let's hope that'll work. If not I will have to try your suggestion on the weekend.
