Can't get cellular modem working

I am trying to get my system set up to use the internal wwan card as a failover. As I am more familiar with Windows, I was able to confirm under Win11 that all my hardware does work. My system was able to successfully connect to internet over the wwan card. Other than installing drivers, I did not have to do anything additional to get it to work.
https://docs.opnsense.org/manual/how-tos/cellular.html
I cannot get it to work with Opnsense though. Looking at /dev, only /dev/cuau0 shows up, nothing like /dev/cuau0.1, /dev/cuau0.2, etc... So I tried to run the command 'cu -l /dev/cuaU0'. I do see a connected, but I do not get a reply when typing anything after that.
I am using a Sierra Wireless MC7700 MPCIE card. It is installed in the Topton system linked below. The system does have an integrated SIM card slot which I am using.

Any advice on how to get this working would be appreciated.

After doing some more searching I found the issue. The modem was in QMI mode, and for FreeBsd it needs to be in DIP mode. I was able to use the Windows tool in this post to be able to switch it, and now it is working just fine.

For anyone else's benefit, QMI is a proprietary Qualcomm protocol, while DIP (DirectIp) is a more open protocol. Even though I was able to download DIP firmware from Siera Wireless's site for the modem, when I tried to upgrade the firmware I kept getting messages that the modem wasn't found. Once I ran the switcher tool, I was then able to successfully update the DIP firmware.
