UPDATE:

I disabled "Unbound DNS reporting" & this seems to have somewhat addressed the issue, but the issue still persists

Yes, the Unbound DNS Reporting is a nice feature, but it was using way too much CPU time for me. Maybe on enterprise grade hw it's not an issue, and even if I have a decent hw, I don't like devoting all that CPU to the reporting function. Too bad because I was thinking to uninstall AdGuardHome, that I used only for reporting and inspection, but I will keep using unbound as I did before, with no advanced reporting functionality. I hope this could be improved in some way in the future.

I have extended stats turned on and I have the telegraf package and I ship the Unbound stats over to my InfluxDB running Grafana and I rarely use the actual OPNSense box for reporting as I rather have it in a single pane of glass in Grafana.

Yes, that's a good idea. I'm already using Grafana/Influx for other services.

Is there a good dashboard for Unbound already shared or did you make one from scratch?

Thanks.
