I am unclear on the cloud management.  How am I able to unblock blocked sites in reports? I am not able to find it.  Also I am not able to drill down, I see graphs but am not able to interact with them at all.  Is this expected, or is the cloud portal still not ready for prime time?

Thanks!!

Hi,

The cloud management portal is still in beta and growing day by day. The policy and exclusion management will be available with 1.9 that will be shipped in the mid of may. Drill Down and Live Sessions Explorer will be available at version 1.10.

So if I want to install this on Debian/CentOS in bridge between OPNSense and my network on a dedicated server, it will not not work, is that correct? Linux install requires Cloud Portal to function? How do I manage it? Thanks!

Basically, how do I manage a bare metal installation? I assume its possible since its listed as a "feature", to be able to install on BSD/Linux etc.  Would I need to run 2 boxes with opnsense, 1 box as a firewall and 1 box with firewall disabled running sensei if I wanted a dedicated sensei box?

Hi @jclendineng, thanks for the question.

As you've guessed, you will be able to deploy Sensei on a Linux box behind your OPNsense firewall and use it as a transparent filtering bridge. You will be able to manage Sensei functionality on this Linux through the Cloud Portal.

Having said that; for filtering, it's a bit early for Linux platforms since we're delivering the cloud management functionality in phases:

Phase I: Cloud Management Launch: Delivered with Release 1.8

  • Reporting
  • Centralized Reporting
  • Firewalls Grouping
  • Introduction of the additional platforms

Phase II: Policy Management - Will be delivered with Release 1.9 (scheduled for this month)

  • Policy Management
  • Central Policy Management
  • Whitelisting/Blacklisting
  • Engine Updates from Cloud
  • Initial Documentation - mostly OPNsense focused

Phase III: Policy Management II - Will be delivered with 1.9.x and 1.10.

  • Live Sessions Explorers
  • Rest of the documentation
  • Remaining missing functionality which is present in OPNsense UI

I hope this information is useful.
