Hi folks,

my nickname is 'moose' and I'm new to the OPNsense forum. I'd like to migrate from Sophos (aka Astaro) UTM to OPNsense. Currently I'm connected with 50/10 mbps VDSL to the internet and all my NICs and devices have Gigabit ports.

My current hw is

Jetway JNC9C-550-L ITX Mainboard (Atom 2x1.5Ghz CPU, 2x Realtek-Gigabit LAN)
Jetway ADD-ON 3x GigaLAN (Realtek Chips)
2GB SO-DDR-III RAM
2.5" HDD 40GB SATA
Wireless LAN Mini-PCI Express [Atheros AR9280 Chipset] - not in use

This hw fullfills all my needs so far, but it has come to age and I want to replace it. Furthermore I want to run my current fw until I setup the new OPNsense one ;-)

Do you have some suggestion for new hw which

- runs OPNsense 20.x
- is silent
- ideally fanless
- low energy consuming
- has ssd instead of hdd
- 5 NICs would be great, but I can live with 4 NICs too
- small case size
- how much RAM and which SSD size would you recommend?

Hoping to have the main features listed above. If not, don't hesitate to add required ones.

Many thanks in advance for your hints and suggestions!

can you give as some information about your usecase and the services you want to use (IPS, Proxy, Tor....).
If your requirements are not to high maybe this hardware may suite your needs:

i personally use a e100-9ap and i am quite happy with it

@topuli

Many thanks for your reply and your hw suggestion!

Because I didn't get any answer for over a week in this English-speaking thread I asked the same question in the German-speaking part of this forum and got a lot of replies, see https://forum.opnsense.org/index.php?topic=18883.0 please.

I ended up with ordering this system two days ago: https://www.ipu-system.de/produkte/ipu661.html

See my earlier post on Fitlet2: https://forum.opnsense.org/index.php?topic=16765.msg76481#msg76481.
Up to 4 NICs.

The same company is in the process of releasing the Tensor PC I20A which will be a step up in power and the flexibility to configure add-ons. It can take a lot more NICs (up to 20), including PoE and  SFP+ modules. The first models are supposed go on sale in November.  https://fit-iot.com/web/products/tensor-pc/i20a-specifications/. May be overkill but the idea is you can easily configure whatever you want to suit your needs.
