Dear all ,

I am planing to go ahead and upgrade to 20.7 but I am not sure if I do am I going to lose the pppoe ? My ISP supports only PPPOE (nothing I can do about it :( ).

So my question is , if I go and upgrade to 20.7 would I still be able to utilize the pppoe or it will be completely gone from the system or I will just not get any updated for it anymore?

Thanks guys!

Known issues and limitations:

legacy MPD5 plugins os-l2tp, os-pppoe and os-pptp are longer available

I'm in the UK and on a PPPoA line but I have a Vigor 120 in bridge mode to convert that to PPPoE, so PPPoE negotiation is done by OPNsense.

Upgrade from 20.1 series was fine, no issues at all and I'm now on 20.7. No issues whatsoever.

I assume they ditched the plugins, not the basic functionality to make a Internet connection.
Again... I assume.

Yes, the release notes point out that the legacy plugins are no longer supported.

Verify if you used this plugins for any reasons before upgrade. It is most likely not used but I don't know your setup in detail.

You can verify easy on the plugin page if you have the plugin installed currently.

You should be fine. My WAN is also PPPoE and I still have access to the internet with 20.7.

I do confirm that it all worked pretty much OK after the upgrade.

I am having issue with GeoIP though but it is for another post.

Thanks all!
