Hey,

First off, thanks for all the work on OPNsense. For the last couple of years I have been using pfSense, which I also like a lot, choice is good. :) I have been playing with it for @48 hours now and it's working quite well. It was absolutely a smooth install on my Supermicro 5018A-FTN4 (which is way overkill for a home network... but hey it's fun). That same hardware gave me a bit of trouble when I first installed pfSense on it (TRIM support, MBUF etc) but OPNsense had no issues. In fairness I doubt a recent fresh install of pfSense would either.

One potential bug I have noticed is that in the GUI for UPnP under "Services: Universal Plug and Play: Settings", even after I check "Enable UPnP & NAT-PMP" and "Allow UPnP Port Mapping", save etc the service starts but the GUI doesn't represent the checks in the boxes.

I am using the latest stable version of Chrome (Version 47.0.2526.73 (64-bit)) and OPNsense (OPNsense 15.7.21-amd64 FreeBSD 10.1-RELEASE-p24 OpenSSL 1.0.2d 9 Jul 2015)). My install path was from the latest VGA image of .18 an then used the standard firmware upgrade process.

If there is a better place for me to submit bugs I am happy to do so.

Thanks again for the great software!

I can't help you with UPnP as I don't want to use. I prefer to set things manually so I know why things are set that way.

But as you use this machine at home, why not put a hypervisor on it, and use it for more then just a way too overpowered home router?
I have the exact same machine, running Hyper-V 2012 R2. Running several VM's on it, and enough left for experimenting.

Hi there,

This was fixed today, here is the commit:

https://github.com/opnsense/core/commit/4cad00670e9ac1d1fe20c17b2d3406e91d94daf9

We are not yet sure when it'll be shipped, some time in the upcoming week for sure.

Cheers,
Franco

Awesome! Thanks! It works so no worries. :)

Yep, I am aware of the issues and concerns with UPnP. While I would never recommend running UPnP in any kind of corp / production environment for now I am comfortable with running it on this particular network and usage case. I just wanted to raise the bug regarding the GUI for it.

A hypervisor would be a great idea but I already have a server behind it doing that and don't really have a use for another. Perhaps I will play around with the IPS when it releases and see if I can break 2% CPU used. ;)

It's a darn good piece of hardware though.

Only reason in my home network, where I use mine, where I could use UPnP is my PS4.
And Sony did a shitty job at that, so never seen that working properly for anyone :-)

With home I doubt you'll ever break that. Unless you got some funky 1G fiber at home and some funky VPN encryption going on ;-)

upnp is working great for me with my ps4. working with more than one console at a time is definitely going to cause you some issues. what issues are you experiencing weust.

More then one console of the same model on the same internet connection will obviously create issues, and since I don't like UPnP I don't have issues :-)
