[SUGGESTION] Status of services in the menu

Hello,
I saw on the development version you are looking for icons to the list of services in the main menu.
Are it would not be simpler to put a colored sticker, not having to search an icon corresponding to the service (because it is complicated) and it allows to know at a glance the state services.
Example attached

Hi Frédéric,
That's a great idea! We can colour the icons directly:
o black: not configured/enabled
o green: enabled and working
o red: enabled and malfunctioning
It would also help getting rid of the spurious "services status page".
We're only about half-way through redesigning the menu, so any input is greatly appreciated. We have still time till 16.1 in January to make the menu even better.
Cheers,
Franco

I'd suggest leaving the 'black' icon off the menu, just green for enabled/OK & red enabled/problems. If there's no other symbol the service isn't configured and the panel looks less cluttered.

Eventually we'll need some kind of symbol of we want to do a menu collapse to the left where we only show icons instead of names to make more room for the actual page content. I actually wanted to shift all icons to the left, but for now it ended up in the right to indicate the submenu item.

My original idea was especially not clutter the services menu. Also, find a icon representing each service is not easy.
Good idea using three icons, the icon but not have to be set very clear (very light gray) to avoid overloading

I know a guy who designed icons for web fonts every time he couldn't find an appropriate one...
I think we all agree on avoiding overload and clutter. There's a bit more work I need to do next week before we look into how we can have this embedded status without making the menu load slower than it should (service status might be slow in the background).
Thanks so far!

On second though we may be removing all the Icons of Subsections again. They were originally meant to help spot submenu items, but that may not be necessary at all since the submenu items become common elements. See, we're making progress.
