DNS doesn't work after upgrade to 18.7.9

Hi Everyone,

I have tried upgrading my OPNsense firewall to 18.7.9 twice from 18.7.8, both of the time after the upgrade DNS doesn't work. So the only way to get this fixed is by rolling back to 18.7.8, as I am running it as a VM I can roll back to 18.7.8 and everything works  after that. Any changes in DNS structure from 18.7.9? Any help highly appreciated.

Hi.
What do you exactly mean when you say DNS doesn't work after upgrade?
You mean the built in DNS module "unbound" and/or "dnsmask" of what else?
I have some installation and they work with both DNS services after upgrade.
What kind of errors do you receive?
Did you try nslookup command form within opnsense? If yes what happens?

I had probs with DNS resolver after upgrading to 18.7.9  these days (see other thread). This morning I found a fresh _1 version of Unbound (didn'T check what was changed....) and installed.

Back to stable here :-)

PS: Too early, now problem with DNS is back, going to revert to older unbound...

I tried unbound, dnsmask and default dns settings although, it didn't work with any of the settings although local nslookup shows the right results. I upgraded the firewall with unbound enabled, but after the upgrade it doesn't work, I tried twice but same result. So I thought of trying 19.1 development version and dns is working fine. Seems like there is some issue with 18.7.9

Yes, could be an issue with unbound, tested devel version and it's working. I willl take a snapshot and will go back to stable version later.
