Don't understand that last statement - not at all the intention behind the discussion from my side

I am coming from the point that IF a decision should be made do adapt THEN it should include ...

If the decision should be to leave it as it is (and there are also good reasons for) - fine

I want to make clear - my wish is to be able to set the LL address via the GUI. Everything else in this topic are sideshows.
If I would have enough programming knowledge I would already had reworked the code to make it possible.

Well, almost. Do you want to override all link-local addresses or just usage of fe80::1:1?

For the WAN interface no change is necessary but for all internal interfaces it should be possible to choose if you want to overwrite the LL address. It may default to fe80::1:1 but you should also be able to choose another one.

All the internal interfaces or all WAN-tracking internal interfaces?

All internal interfaces, no matter how they get their IPv6 address.

Okay, I'm unable to deliver this in a timely fashion. Sorry.

Cheers,
Franco

This is not a time critical problem, we are still in evaluation. For the moment we live with manual setting the wanted LL addresses. But when we need to make the final decisions how to realize the project in about 5-6 months it may become a killing argument for OPNsense.
