OPNsense loosing connectivity to Internet!

Hi all!

I'm trying to understand why OPNsense is loosing connectivity to Internet all the time. We are running OpenVPN and we can have connectivity to Internet a couple of days and all of the sudden it looses it completly. To get it back we are forced to reboot it, and then we can use it like it is suppose to be and couple of more days until it looses the Internet again.

Any clues?

There are several having a similar problem - Nord VPN for me. Works for a while, then nothing, and the dashboard is green all across. If I restart the VPN, then restart Unbound DNS from the dashboard then it all comes back up.

Quick question, do you have 'persist-key' in your custom commands? Not that it is the problem, but I'm seeing some chatter across different boards that this function might be broken with some providers, including Nord. I'll be investigating this tomorrow.

We are facing "No route to host" and need to reboot.  :(

Dunno if it's the VPN service or if we are using the ZyXEL LTE3301 4G modem that are causing the loss of connectivity? Because I've read in here at the forum that some ppl that are using 4G modems are facing similar problems.

The dashboard are stating that we have IP and all, but no.

This is happening to me even on 17.7.5 and im not even using a VPN. Everything states we're good to go but until needs to be physically power cycled. (in this case a VM on Intel PRO 1000 cards)

Same here. The VPN comment above I made didn't completely solve things. I've also setup auto reboot @ 3 am. Better, but still occasional hangups.

Found another OpenVPN switch to use with NordVPN...

Another site looking at this states that until recently, Nord servers had a configuration problem and suggested using

auth-retry nointeract

in the custom commands. I've used that over the last week and haven't experienced another drop-out. But I also have a reboot scheduled @ 3 am that  may be covering this.

They also state that Nord may have gotten the server config resolved.
