OpenBSD PF has been updated to 64bits, meaning it can now properly handle 8Gbps or 10Gbps internet connections.

Since PF was ported to FreeBSD since 5.3-RELEASE, I wonder when this is coming to OPNsense.

Just trying to understand how 32bits PF handles now a 10Gbps connection. and if it will be a perceptible improvement. Thanks!

This post is about HFSC traffic shaping which isn't in FreeBSD.

> With 10G, 25G, and 100G network interfaces now commonplace, OpenBSD devs making huge progress unlocking the kernel for SMP, and adding drivers for cards supporting some of these speeds, this limitation started to get in the way.

FreeBSD and DragonFlyBSD did similar work many years ago already.
