iwlwifi0: Scan failed: ret -5 after upgrade to 25.7

After update from 25.1.12 to 25.7, my wireless interface no longer works.

I receive error message:

iwlwifi0: ERROR: lkpi_ic_scan start: hw_scan returned -5

I use OpnSense in transparent bridge mode, with wifi interface used for gateway to internet for OS updates and access to GUI.

As part of troubleshooting, I removed & re-installed: wifi-firmware-iwlwifi-kmod-ax210-20241017.1402000_2.pkg
This did not resolve the problem.

Since I use the wireless interface for internet gateway, perhaps the update to 25.7 is not complete.

Any suggestions how I may correct the problem?

Thanks!

FreeBSD is working on iwlwifi quite a bit t the moment and we're following the stable commits. That doesn't make 25.7 any better for you but fixes should land eventually in 25.7.x -- maybe the best course of action would be to wait on 25.1 for a proper fix.

Franco

Thanks, I will revert to 25.1 & restore from config file.

I also checked the code and nothing else on stable/14 on FreeBSD's end as of yesterday. It may be worth chasing FreeBSD using https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/ but I don't have high hopes with that approach.

Cheers,
Franco

Found a fix of sorts, not tried it as would prefer to wait for the full fix, at least it confirmed my Wifi card is recognised even if the driver is not loaded as seen by looking at my boot up messages which match the screenshot in the post.
