Upgrade just stalls trying to fetch packages

I have been trying to update OPNsense 24.1.10_8 for well over an hour and it just will not do it, it just is stuck on a screen that says...

Currently running OPNsense 24.1.10_8 at Thu Jan  2 14:15:33 EST 2025
Fetching packages-24.7-amd64.tar: ...

And the dots keep going but it NEVER gets the file.  It never got even that first file so finally I rebooted the router and it came back but is still doing the same thing.

Thinking it might be a server problem I changed to a mirror, but it still just will not download.

I have not seen this before, usually upgrades go very smoothly, so I don't know what to do to resolve this issue.  Any suggestions?

If you're seeing the dots then you need to simply wait for it to complete, then a few more minutes for the installation and reboots and you'll be on 24.7, then one more update to get on the latest 24.7.11.

Depending on how speedy your machine is the 24.7 upgrade process - once it finished downloading - can take anywhere from 5 to 20 minutes. Try to watch it unfolding if you have a monitor or serial cable and don't rush to reset/force reboot it while it is in the middle of the upgrade process.

I vaguely remember that I had an upgrade problem some months ago after my initial install, which went away after I disabled ipv6.
