Hi,
I've installed OPNsense in aproxmox VM on a good hardware (cpu i5-8500t, 16gb ram, 4 port 2.5g Realtek 8139)
I've noticed that the maximum internet speed is more or less 100 megabit lower than measured with mikrotik rb5009 router .

My fiber link is gpon 2500/1000 in PPPoE

I've found on other thread some Tunables tricks but I don't understand if it is really needed .

net.isr.maxthreads
net.isr.dispatch
net.isr.dispatch
net.inet.rss.enabled
net.inet.rss.bits

thanks for your explanation

Perhaps not the source of the problem but realtek != good hardware (for freebsd infrastructure)

I don' understand if your words are sarcastic . In any way I simply noticed the maximum download speed from web is 100 megabit lower than something seen with rb5009 router.

As I'm novice I ask you about the Tunables settings I've wrote .

thanks

No, no sarcasm used there. I am saying that realtek devices are not best suited for infrastructure based on freebsd.
As for the tunables, I'm not sure they're of help to you. They were necessary in the past for some nics that had multiple queues. Best to check the thread for RSS testing from the start for a research of they're of use with the current kernels and for your nics.

ok , thanks
Sincerarly I've noticed no difference in maximum speed with or without tunables special settings
