Network Performance Issues - Post 24.7-amd64 (Resolved)

I've been running an Asrock mainboard & AMD 3950x-based OPNSense system for about a year.

NIC is Chelsio T520 series (2x 10Gbps)

System is running RSS (and a bunch of other tunables), which first became stable (for me) with the release of 24.7. The only change from 24.1, though, was enabling RSS itself.

CPU is running 16 cores, with Hyper Threading disabled

Simple benchmarking across the pair of ports, on separate VLANS, generated roughly 8 Gbps full duplex. This was a pair of VMs running Ubuntu 24.4 and using several iPerf v2 processes to generate TCP data (10 flows).

With the current update (I think), performance has dropped to roughly 2 Gbps full duplex using the same configuration.

Has anyone else seen an issue like this? There are several variables (e.g., Ubuntu patches) that seem unlikely, but could be related, so I'm not pointing fingers yet.

When I have some time, I'll reconfigure the system back across the OPNSense variants as best I can...

Well,

Restored back to 24.7 with the current baseline configuration. The only relevant config changes made in tunables was deleting powerd.

I tested 24.7 with it on and off and could see negligible differences between no powerd and powerd maximum a, so neither of those variables seem to be the issue. There's more to evaluate, but my hopes that it was the easy button of the latest upgrade have been squashed...
