OPNsense crashing and rebooting after upgrade to 24.7_5

I have upgraded my OPNsense from 24.1.10_8 to 24.7_5. First I upgraded using GUI update and it completed well. However, when I accessed new dashboard, it used to crash in a few minutes - again and again.

Then I tried update from console, and the result is same.

Finally I did fresh install with configuration import and it went well. However, after startup, when I logged in using GUI - it crashed again and rebooted.

Unless I access the GUI, it was working fine after reboot. I tried console update to see if there is some fix already for this - but strange enough, it crashed again while update from console was running.

I am running on a Virtual Machine on XCP-ng with 4vCPU, 8GB RAM and 50 GB SSD disk.

I reverted to the previous vm snapshot and all is fine again while at 24.1.10_8.

Seems the release is not well tested and has some serious bug. Is there some known workaround or fix for this problem?

Suricata IPS mode enabled?

https://github.com/opnsense/src/issues/211

There is a test kernel to try in there.

Thanks franco,

Yes, Suricata IPS is enabled.

The test kernel 24.7_7 also seems to suffer from the same.

I will wait for a stable kernel before trying to upgrade again.

Yes, you need to turn IPS mode off for now. It's being investigated.
