Dynamic DNS - cpanel update

Now the old dynamic dns plugin does not work with 24.1, I'm stuck regarding how to update using the cpanel method, which is like this:

https://host.com/cpanelwebcall/<random string>

Which returns:

ipv4: xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx

I've tried working through google and some of the examples but I cannot obviously work out how this is supposed to work.

Can someone give an idiots guide to getting cpanel dynamic IP working again?

Maybe you want to try cron for the update.

Try this setup from the attached image, but first make sure to select backend to native on "Dynamic DNS -> General Settings".

The obfuscated text is the host name you want to update. Take into account that different hosting providers could change the cPanel configuration but hopefully it is on the defaults.

Some years ago, when I configured this host name to use with dynamic IP I had to open a ticket support with my hosting provider due to the update URL being blocked by their firewall. If you can't make this work you could be on the same situation.

Thanks for posting the image with your setup.  It helps enormously.  I'm hoping you are able to supply a little more detail.

I can see from the image, the string required for the server field needs more than a host name and port.  It seems to need a command of some sort encoded into the URL.  I've been searching for days for documentation on the cpanel command syntax without any joy.

I can now see where the required URL string is supposed to come from.  Looking at this page:

https://docs.cpanel.net/cpanel/domains/dynamic-dns/

The generation of the dynamic dns entry in cpanel creates the unique URl required to update the DNS record.  I think my problem is that my hosting provider (HostPapa) does not seem to have this feature enabled in cPanel.

So I guess that is that...

It took a while for my provider to enable this feature, and I had to ask them to make an exception to the firewall to let the URL to reach the server.
May be if you ask them, they enable it. Nothing extra is needed on their side I believe...
