Hello,

I had my old computer which was working fine and I have decided to turn it into router for my home.
I have bought INTEL PRO/1000 PT EXPI9402PTG2P20 DUAL PCIe LP and tried to install the OPNSense.

Upon booting it was crushing and didnt know why. I have removed the NIC and was able to install it with only port on my motherboard .

I have inserted the NIC back and it booted correctly I the nic and the interfaces on it and was able to assign lan interface to the Intel NIC.

However when I tried to setup the interfaces after it configures WAN it then goes int o kernel panic :

My full hardware setup is as follows:
- Motherboard : Asus P8B75-M LX
- RAM : HyperX 2x4GB 1600MHz DDR3 Non-ECC CL9 Intel XMP X2 Grey Series (KHX1600C9D3X2K2/8GX)
- CPU : Celeron G1610, Dual Core, 2.60GHz, 2MB, LGA1155, 22nm, 55W, VGA, BOX (BX80637G1610)
- NIK : NTEL PRO/1000 PT EXPI9402PTG2P20 DUAL PCIe LP
- SSD: SDNow V300 120 GB 7mm (SV300S37A/120G)

Please let me know what I can do to set it up? What I am doing wrong ?

Sounds like bad hardware somewhere.  Have you tried plugging the NIC into a different slot?

Have you done any burn in testing such as memtest, etc?

Does the NIC work in a different machine?

You know what. I check the hardware and it was ok. I installed pfsense without any issue it just work the first time. I will check it out and see if it will work and maybe will give opnsense another chance but for now I am good.
