Upgrade or clean install "Could not execute /usr/local/etc/rc.bootup"

Hi there,
Not sure which forum to post this in. But it is this one or the 23.1 forum I think.
We had a opnsense install which we have upgraded for several years. We were promoted to upgraded major versions which we did. When the router rebooted we see the following error on the console "Launching init system ...flock Could not execute /usr/local/etc/rc.bootup no such file or directory." The file does exist.
We then tried a clean install with a restore. The same error. We tried a clean install, ran the wizard and rebooted, same error. We tried install Pather and did a restore. Same error. It seems we are the only ones experiencing this issue. Any help will be appreciated

That's highly unusual. Is the disk ok? USB stick plugged in booting the wrong file system?
Cheers,

Ok so I figured out why I am getting the same error on reinstall. I was only making the changes to the ram version and was not installing it to disk.
The only issue then was the error on upgrade where the upgrade would fail on reboot with the error described. "Launching inti system ...flock. Could not execute /usr/local/etc/rc.bootup". It was strange because the file was there. When I tried running "php /usr/local/etc/rc.boottup" Php could not be found.

I also have this error, rebooting after upgrading from 23.1.11-1 (I think it was) to 23.7 Can I recover from this error somehow ? I hope not a re-install

The error can have many causes (mainly due to some missing PHP package). A screenshot always helps.
But then again partial upgrades are never a good sign as the disk/file system didn't remember the files it just wrote... Remember that our sets are signed and verified

OK, well not good news. I did a re-install from a USB stick after finding I could import my configuration from the PC SSD, whew. It now boots fine and I've not yet found anything not working. Audits appear happy. Shame to have lost my VnStat numbers but maybe they are there, somewhere, on the USB stick.

No, those are not imported as they are somewhere in /var, but the config import only deals with /conf directory content.
